This map shows the locations of community media outlets in the New York City metropolitan area listed in Many Voices, One City. In some cases, the location will only be approximate, based on a neighborhood or a zip code. Find a link to each outlet’s directory entry via the listings in the middle panel or the tooltips on the map.
The media outlets included in the directory represent the diversity and breadth of this media sector. The information was largely provided to us by leaders of the media outlets themselves, occasionally supplemented by information from their websites. It was collected via a survey that was administered online and over the telephone, with extensive outreach to encourage participation. Media representatives who wish to add their media outlet’s name and information to the directory may click here to go to the submission form.
